Cress Williams Shows Us Why Green Lantern Movie Was Not The Fault Of Ryan Reynolds

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:6410:]]The Green Lantern movie was supposed to be the next big thing following Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Trilogy.

More than likely it was supposed to do what the Man of Steel will, and that's launch a new DC shared movie universe with the Justice League movie.

But by all accounts the Green Lantern movie failed completely as it had a questionable pair of villains as well as a storyline seemingly conflicting between the Earth and space.

Basically the finished script was terrible - at least in my opinion - and probably why Ryan Reynolds said he would only return as Green Lantern in the Justice League movie if there was a good director and quality writing.

Speaking of Ryan Reynolds, some GL fans hold the actor as the reason, or at least partially, for the Green Lantern movie bombing.

I wonder if this clip will change their minds?

THR has a feature on their site where they bring in actors to read for various parts in movies.

The following video has Cress Williams, of Hart of Dixie and Friday Night Lights fame, read for the role of Hal Jordan during the Green Lantern transformation scene.

Watching this I still cringe and remember thinking at the time it was on the big screen, "This is so dumb."

And you know what? Even with Cress Williams it still is.

So I don't hold anything against Ryan Reynolds.
