The indie filmmaker is known for his sci-fi movie Safety Not Guaranteed, which reportedly Star Wars creator George Lucas took a liking to.

Celebuzz states that Colin Trevorrow met with George Lucas to discuss the new Star Wars project.

While no details about Colin Trevorrow’s meeting are known, it’s stated that he is on the list of potential candidates to direct the next Star Wars.
