Cobie Smulders, the actress announced to play the sidekick role to Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury in Joss Whedon’s The Avengers, spoke to Zap2It about the costume she will be wearing – or squeezing into, by the sounds of it.
Smulders compares the Avengers attire to a “catsuit.”
“We start in April, which is like… tomorrow,” Smulders says. “I literally leave here and I go to Albuquerque, New Mexico, to shoot some scenes in a catsuit.”
“I’ve tried on portions of the catsuit,” says Smulders, “[and] I’ve seen conceptual drawings of what they want it to be. It’s fascinating to me. I feel like wardrobe becomes very creative on these types of movies because they literally spend weeks designing just the pants or the emblem. It’s such an all-consuming process, so I’m excited to see how it all turns out.”
Initially, I thought she was comparing the suit to the Michelle Pfeiffer skin tight Catwoman suit from the Batman movies – but looked it up and found “cat suit” to be a legitimate piece of woman’s clothing (lol).
Maria Hill does happen to wear a skin tight black uniform.
The Avengers is set to assemble in theaters May 4th 2012 starring Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, and Samuel L. Jackson.
