Fans Want Clayface Over Street Fighter — The IMAX Movie That Took Its Screens

The Quorum — the survey firm whose numbers flagged Supergirl‘s problem before it opened — is out with its new eight-week tracking chart, covering 15 movies opening between now and late October.

Clayface is already near the top — ahead of Street Fighter, one of October’s biggest releases, which opens one week earlier in the IMAX theaters Clayface lost.

Only three movies on the entire chart post a higher interest score. All three open in September.

Nothing opening in October beats it.

Clayface Still Scaled

Clayface Ranks Fourth In Interest Across All 15 Movies

The Quorum measures two basic things: awareness, meaning whether moviegoers know a film exists, and interest, meaning whether they actually want to see it.

Clayface currently sits at 32% awareness and 43% interest ahead of its October 23 release.

The 32% matches the awareness number Greenlight Analytics showed last week — no surprise, since Greenlight owns The Quorum.

The 43% is the new number, and this time we can see exactly where its interest ranks against the rest of the theatrical field.

Only Resident Evil at 51%, Heart of the Beast at 48%, and By Any Means at 44% score higher.

That’s fourth out of all 15 upcoming movies that The Quorum is currently tracking.

And all three movies ahead of Clayface open in September, meaning they’re further along in their marketing campaigns.

Nothing Opening In October Is Ahead Of Clayface

Narrow the chart to October and Clayface moves to the very top.

Among the seven October releases, its 43% interest ties Other Mommy for first.

There’s another twist here (no pun intended).

The Quorum credits Other Mommy‘s momentum to what it calls the “Nolan Bump,” with its trailer playing in front of The Odyssey.

Clayface reached the same 43% without a comparable push because, as covered last week, its real marketing campaign hasn’t started yet.

It’s also the strongest of Warner Bros.’ three movies on the chart, ahead of Practical Magic 2 at 41% and Digger at 39%.

Street Fighter Has The IMAX Screens — Clayface Has The Demand

Here’s the twist inside that October ranking.

Street Fighter — Paramount and Legendary’s video game movie stacked with Jason Momoa, Roman Reigns, Cody Rhodes, and 50 Cent — opens October 16, one week before Clayface, and Paramount bills it as “Filmed for IMAX.”

That’s the same movie CBN pointed to back in June, when Warner Bros. quietly scrubbed the IMAX line from Clayface‘s own production materials: a title actually shot for the format, opening one week earlier, is exactly the kind of release that keeps those premium screens locked up through Clayface‘s opening weekend.

IMAX’s own 2026 slate deck lists Street Fighter with full billing, and Clayface isn’t on it at all.

So on paper, October belongs to Street Fighter: the bigger brand, the bigger cast, the premium screens.

The audience disagrees.

Street Fighter just posted the worst two-week move of any movie on the chart, with awareness down 7 points and interest down 5, both landing at 39%.

Street Fighter is still the better-known movie, 39% awareness to Clayface‘s 32%. But awareness is the number an ad campaign can fix. Interest is the one it can’t, and there Clayface leads it, 43% to 39%.

More people want to see the movie that lost the IMAX screens than the movie that has them.

This Is Different From Last Week’s 21%

That’s important because this isn’t simply the same Clayface tracking number we covered last week dressed up a different way.

Greenlight’s previous data measured opening weekend intent among moviegoers who already knew about the film. Clayface scored 21%, nearly double the 11% average of its four comparison movies.

The Quorum’s new 43% measures general interest — whether moviegoers want to see the movie at all — and puts Clayface on the same board as the other 14 movies opening over the next eight weeks.

Different question. Different comparison.

Same direction.

The earlier data said the smaller group that knows about Clayface is unusually committed. The new chart says its broader level of interest is already competitive with virtually everything coming to theaters through late October.

The Numbers Dipped — The Ranking Didn’t

There is one negative in the new chart.

Clayface‘s awareness fell four points from two weeks ago, while interest slipped two.

But put those drops next to the calendar, and it looks like just a marketing fix.

Movie campaigns typically don’t really begin until about six weeks before release, with most of the money spent in the final three. For an October 23 release, that puts the real push in mid-September.

The drops are worth watching, but they haven’t changed where Clayface stands against the competition.

Even after losing four points in awareness and two in interest, it still ranks fourth in interest among all 15 movies on the chart, is tied for first among the seven October releases, and has the highest interest score of Warner Bros.’ three movies being tracked.

Supergirl Was At The Other End Of This Chart

There is still a useful DC comparison here, but it’s the ranking that matters.

Days before Supergirl opened in June, this same survey had it dead last in interest among its summer competition despite posting the biggest awareness surge on the chart.

It went on to finish as the lowest-grossing DC movie in history.

The timing is completely different. Supergirl was days from release with its campaign finished; Clayface is still more than seven weeks out.

That’s why comparing their raw percentages doesn’t tell us much.

Where they rank against the movies around them does.

Supergirl reached release sitting at the bottom. Clayface is entering its marketing window sitting near the top.

Now Clayface Has To Hold It

Clayface is the second and final DC movie of 2026, with Paramount already weighing what a DC shake-up would look like.

The next question isn’t whether there is early interest. Two different sets of tracking now say there is.

It’s whether that 43% holds as Warner Bros. starts putting the movie in front of a much bigger audience through September and October.

For now, though, Clayface isn’t chasing the October field. The October field is chasing Clayface.

Of course, Clayface still has to prove it isn’t simply sitting on top of a weak October field. But with a reported $50 million budget, it doesn’t need blockbuster numbers to make the math work.
