The most controversial movie of 2026 is getting a sequel, and this time, it’s America’s turn.
Uwe Boll has confirmed Citizen Vigilante 2 is happening, stamped a 2027 release on it, and revealed the sequel relocates the action to the United States.
And while the trades are still vaguely referring to a “potential sequel,” Boll already dropped a poster two weeks ago, with Armie Hammer’s name plastered across the top.

Boll made the announcement on his verified X account back on June 26: “Citizen Vigilante 2. Coming 2027,” alongside a blood-red one-sheet billing Armie Hammer above the title and carrying the tagline “HE COMES TO AMERICA.”
The artwork — labeled “Made with AI” puts Hammer’s vigilante in a subway car with his gun drawn, imagery pulled straight from the Death Wish lineage that Puck’s Kim Masters already hung on the first film.
The post has done numbers: 931K+ views, 42,000 likes, and 5,300 reposts as of this writing.
Whatever critics think of the franchise, the demand is sitting right there in the metrics. It has the same story as the original, riding Elon Musk’s free 48-hour X stream to #1 on Apple and Amazon after Germany banned it from theaters.
Uwe Boll Confirms Citizen Vigilante 2 Is Set in the USA
Boll doubled down during his scorched-earth Reddit AMA last week. Asked by a fan what to expect from the sequel, Boll replied: “CV2 will be different ….and playing in the USA.”
Worth noting: that fan’s question referenced Boll having previously teased the plot, the vigilante “going to the united states to stop somali fraud,” as the redditor put it.
Boll confirmed the U.S. setting without disputing the description.
We’ll treat the plot specifics as unconfirmed until Boll says it himself, but between the tagline, the AMA answer, and that exchange, the direction here is not exactly a mystery.
Stack that on Puck’s report this week that the sequel is already in preproduction, and Citizen Vigilante 2 goes from internet rumor to the most radioactive project on the 2027 calendar.
Germany banned the first film on anti-immigrant and anti-Muslim grounds; a sequel that plants the same character on American soil is Boll picking the biggest fight available. And given the original’s 93 percent audience score against a 6 percent critics score on Rotten Tomatoes, he clearly likes his odds.
Is Armie Hammer Returning for Citizen Vigilante 2?
Here’s the open question. Boll’s poster bills Hammer front and center, but there’s no indication an actual deal is in place, and everything on the record says the star isn’t rushing back.
As we covered, Hammer was reportedly in tears the first time he watched the finished film, telling his camp it was “hateful” and “disgusting,” per Puck.
Asked point-blank whether Hammer would return for the sequel, his own people said: “It would have to be life-changing money. Everyone has a breaking point.”
Either way, the poster already said it: he comes to America. Ready or not.
