Doubts about Anne Hathaway’s performance as Catwoman in The Dark Knight Rises were swept away upon hearing the actress’s first few lines.

While the movie seems to be getting mixed reviews, one thing that is agreed upon is Hathaway’s performance.

It was spectacular.

Of course, director Christopher Nolan thinks as much, and even has stated that there should be a Catwoman spin-off.

“Anne is incredibly precise and articulate about the psychology of the character. She’s really built it from the ground up, it’s just a delight to watch her perform. The things she does in those heels is not to be taken lightly.

“She’s an incredible character and we’re very excited to see her and hopefully we’ll leave people wanting more.

“I certainly think she deserves it, she’s incredible,” Nolan said.

Now word has got back to Anne Hathway, who has responded she would do a Catwoman movie — albeit with certain people attached.

“If [Nolan] is interested then I’m very interested. I think it would be lovely to see more of her but only if it’s with the right people. She lives in this Gotham City and so it would have to be established by the people who have made this Gotham City. For me, at least,” Hathaway told Digital Spy.

And therein lies the problem with the Catwoman movie, as Christopher Nolan said he is done with the characters and this Universe.

“For me, Gotham and these characters, I’m done. I’ve told our story and I’m moving on,” Nolan said to Access Hollywood.

The Dark Knight Rises hits theaters July 20th, 2012 and is directed by Christopher Nolan starring Christian Bale as Batman, Tom Hardy as Bane, Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Gary Oldman as Commissioner Gordon, Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox, Michael Cain as Alfred, Juno Temple and Josh Pence as a young Ra’s al Ghul.
