Steel City Con announced Saturday night via Instagram that Lambert will be back for the final day of the show, with the actor set to hit the con floor Sunday at 11:30 AM. In a fun bit of timing, Karen Gillan, who co-stars in Henry Cavill’s Highlander reboot, is also doing photo ops at the con Sunday. The original story continues below.
Christopher Lambert, the original immortal of the Highlander franchise, suffered a medical scare on Saturday at Steel City Con, where the 69-year-old actor collapsed while signing autographs and was taken from the convention hall by ambulance, per a TMZ exclusive.
A witness tells the outlet Lambert suddenly went down while meeting fans at the Monroeville Convention Center just outside Pittsburgh, where the con runs through Sunday.
Medics transported him out of the building shortly after.
Rep blames low blood sugar
The good news arrived fast.
A rep for the actor tells TMZ that Lambert is “perfectly ok” and resting in his hotel room.
According to the rep, Lambert went into Saturday running on no sleep and had barely eaten all day, which sent his blood sugar crashing and led to the collapse.
Lambert was scheduled to appear all three days of the show, and whether he returns for Sunday’s final day will come down to how he feels. He is said to be confident he will be good to go for next week’s FAN EXPO Chicago.
Earlier in the weekend, Steel City Con’s official Instagram shared a photo of Lambert posing with a fan dressed in full Highlander tartan, complete with the franchise’s signature “there can be only one” caption.
Saturday’s incident follows another scare from last year, when Lambert fell on hotel stairs in March 2025 and injured his back. He went on to make a full recovery.
Highlander lives on with Henry Cavill
Lambert became a genre legend as Connor MacLeod in 1986’s Highlander and its sequels, a run bookended by his turns as Tarzan in Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes and Lord Rayden in 1995’s Mortal Kombat.
The franchise he launched is also headed back to theaters. Chad Stahelski’s Highlander reboot stars Henry Cavill as MacLeod alongside Russell Crowe, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Marisa Abela, Djimon Hounsou, Max Zhang and Jeremy Irons, with the film expected in 2027 following a marathon shoot across Europe.
Cavill recently offered a Highlander update at Royal Ascot, promising that everything fans love about the original made it into the new film. The same outing also saw the actor shoot down James Bond talk while looking exactly like 007.
