Casting: 5 Actors For Marvel’s Spider-Man

If Marvel Studios gets its way, Andrew Garfield will be out, and a new actor will be cast as Spider-Man for Captain America: Civil War.

Per the rumors, Marvel plans on skipping the origin story and going with more of a teenage-angst approach to Spider-Man.

We could then see this actor in a new standalone Spider-Man movie as early as 2017.

With that said, here are five possible actors that Marvel could use to become the new Spider-Man (in no particular order).

Update: It’s official: Spider-Man will be featured as part of the MCU.

1.  Dylan O’Brien: Recently starred in Maze Runner, and is also known for Teen Wolf. The 23-year-old actor also stated he would like to play Spider-Man: “…kinda nerdy dude in high school, then he gets to be a superhero running around new york city, doing spider webs and stuff… that’s basically my entire dream as a human being.. i like wanna be Peter Parker.” Seems we are not the only who thinks O’Brien could play Spidey:

2.  Logan Lerman: Recently starred in Fury and is known for the Percy Jackson movies. Lerman is 22-years-old and was previously stated to be up for the role of Spider-Man prior to Andrew Garfield: “There have been a few discussions, it’s definitely something I’m looking into. It’s [Spider-man] one of my favorite characters ever and I’m a huge fan of the series. I’d love to have more conversations about it. I’m definitely very interested in it.”

3.  Asa Butterfield: Recently starred in Ender’s Game and Hugo and is known for the Merlin TV series. The up-and-coming 17-year-old actor could be a good choice to play a young Peter Parker. Butterfield is currently rumored for Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children.

4. Devon Werkheiser: Known for the Nickelodeon Ned Declassified TV series and was recently featured in Franklin & Bash. The 23-year-old actor does look the part. Look for more from Devon in Bethlehem and Sundown.

5.  Zac Efron; Guess who was recently rumored for a new Marvel character and franchise? Guess who was rumored when rumors of Spider-Man returning to Marvel began to surface? Yep. Zac Efron. 27-year-old Zac Efron is known for Disney shows and movies and recently starred in Neighbors. Efron stated would also love to play Spider-Man: “Are you kidding? It would be a dream come true,” he said. “I think it would be an honor. I would tear it up.”
