It’s being reported that Matthew Vaughn will not be directing the sequel to X-Men: First Class, X-Men: Days of Future Past.
For unknown reasons Vaughn has bowed out, according to Deadline, but it looks as if X-Men director Bryan Singer may take his place.
Singer was already on board the movie as a producer, and now it looks as if the two will switch roles as Vaughn is said to be stepping back into a more of a producer role.
X-Men: Days of Future Past is due to be released July 18, 2014 so Fox Studios has to get things moving along.
Matthew Vaughn previously bowed out from directing X-Men: First Class, but came back, as Deadline notes.
Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy and Jennifer Lawrence are all due to return for the sequel.
