Bryan Cranston achieved super stardom portraying Walter White in the hit TV series Breaking Bad, and now the actor says he is interested in tackling Lex Luthor for Zack Snyder’s Superman/Batman movie, sequel to Man of Steel.
“Give me a call,” he said, with Metro adding it was with a grin. “I like Lex Luthor. I think he’s misunderstood. He’s a loveable, sweet man,” Cranston offered.
Cranston plays a chemistry teacher sticken by cancer turned crystal meth maker and cartel boss known as “Heisenberg” in a role that sees the character undergo extreme transformation from a loving husband and father to a major player in the drug scene due to his ability to create a pure form of the drug coupled with a keen intellect.
During previous seasons of Breaking Bad, many fans have pointed out that Cranston’s Walter White mirrors Lex Luthor with his shear ruthlessness and cunning smarts. Actually in an episode, Walter White is even described as looking like Lex (video below).
Bryan Cranston also has a starring role in the upcoming Godzilla 2014 movie where he plays another super smart character in the form of a scientist.
Mark Strong is also rumored for the role of Lex Luthor in Man of Steel 2, and a former Lex has expressed interest as well with Michael Rosenbaum.
Superman/Batman, the sequel to Man of Steel, goes into production next year for a 2015 release starring Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane.
