Bruce Campbell says his cancer prognosis now comes with a timeline: about five years to live.
The Evil Dead star, 68, shared the update on the Sept. 3 episode of The Adam Carolla Show, six months after first announcing his diagnosis.
“Give Or Take”
Campbell still isn’t saying what type of cancer he has, but told Carolla “the current thing is a five-year deal.”
Carolla asked him directly if that means he has five years to live.
“Give or take,” Campbell answered, saying the prognosis is a recent development.
He Plans To Live With It, Not Die From It
Campbell made clear he isn’t letting the number define him.
“I’ve decided to live with it, not die from it,” he said.
He said he refuses to go down the cancer rabbit hole of research and patient focus groups, saying he won’t touch any of it with a 10-foot pole.
Campbell added that he feels “perfect” right now and said the diagnosis has affected him more mentally than physically.
His Message To Fans After The Response
The interview made headlines this week, and fans flooded Campbell with support.
Early on Sept. 5, Campbell responded on X, writing that he has said plenty and needs to get “back to the business of living.”
Campbell Announced His Diagnosis In March
Campbell first revealed in March that he has a form of cancer that is “treatable” but not “curable.”
He canceled his summer convention appearances at the time, called himself “a tough old son-of-a-bitch,” and said he expected to be around a while.
Campbell said then that his goal was to get as well as possible over the summer so he could tour with his new comedy movie, Ernie & Emma, this fall.
