The first footage from The Bluey Movie debuted Friday night at D23, with Disney confirming the film is coming only to theaters on August 6, 2027.
The teaser shows Bluey and Bingo battling to keep a balloon off the ground, a clear nod to the classic Keepy Uppy game, rendered in a new CG style built for the big screen.
Disney put the teaser online right after the reveal, while Brandon Davis reported from inside the hall that the crowd reaction was through the roof.
Disney+’s Biggest Show Isn’t Even Disney’s
Here’s the wild part. Bluey was the most-streamed title in the United States in 2025, of any kind, including adult series and movies, racking up 45.2 billion minutes per Nielsen.
That marked its second straight year at number one after 55.6 billion minutes in 2024, and it’s still going, sitting in the overall top 10 on the latest weekly Nielsen chart with another 860 million minutes.
It does all that with a library of just 154 episodes, most of them under ten minutes long.
And the kicker: Bluey is a Ludo Studio production out of Brisbane for Australia’s ABC and BBC Studios. Disney just licenses it, and the movie follows suit, with BBC Studios financing the film and Disney handling worldwide theatrical distribution before it lands on Disney+.
Creator Joe Brumm Directs
Series creator Joe Brumm writes and directs, having stepped away from the show itself to make the film. Series veteran Richard Jeffery co-directs, with Amber Naismith of Happy Feet and The LEGO Movie producing and series composer Joff Bush scoring.
Melanie Zanetti and David McCormack are back as Chilli and Bandit.
