It’s previously been said that Black Widow will be an integral part to The Avengers 2 – and the reason why Scarlett Johansson’s filming is being expedited due to her pregnancy – and now it’s learn we’ll get more of Widow’s backstory as well.
At a press conference for Captain America 2, Scarlett Johansson talks about Black Widow in The Avengers 2.
Here’s the text:
You’ll get more of Widow’s backstory in Avengers 2 also. She has a rich rich past. She definitely comes from a really dark past. You know, I think she has kind of had to be desensitized or dehumanized in a way to be able to do and see some of the things that she seen and participated in willingly. I think that probably most people that have that kind of job description – you know, a mercenary do. I think now she is just grappling with the fact that she is experiencing some trauma from that or at least she has feelings about those things. Maybe she doesn’t sleep so well at night. It’s just sort of hitting her now that she’s kind of been acting as a sort of gun for hire. In doing that she has never really made any active choices. It sort of like the rug has been pulled from under her feet.
So I think more interestingly will probably be for her to discover to follow that progression of the story and bring her back home or see where that leads to, but of course that’s in my imaginary [laughs] next installment. None of that’s really been…the ball has been thrown around a bit. Nothing is in the works for that.
