With Disney and J.J. Abrams releasing the Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer, speculation has risen regarding Benedict Cumberbatch appearing in the film due to the narration in the trailer.
The voice in the trailer (at least in the beginning) sure sounds like Benedict Cumberbatch.
Admittedly, the rest of the voice work kind of doesn’t.
Maybe Benedict Cumberbatch just supplied the voice-over for the first line of the trailer?
Well, we learn the answer in the following video as Benedict Cumberbatch is asked if he was in the trailer and in the movie.
“I can put that one to bed,” Cumberbatch responded. “I am not the voice of the Star Wars trailer nor am I the hooded character with the rather cool new lightsaber.”
Cumberbatch was further pressed about having a role in the film somewhere, to which he shook his head and stated, “No.”
Benedict Cumberbatch is currently rumored to be the top contender to play Doctor Strange for Marvel Studios, and is also rumored for the Warner Bros. Justice League slate of movies.
Regarding the voice in the Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer, it’s speculated to be Andy Serkis.
“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” has a December 18, 2015 release directed by J.J. Abrams from a screenplay by Lawrence Kasdan and Abrams. Kathleen Kennedy, J.J. Abrams, and Bryan Burk are producing, and John Williams returns as the composer.
Actors John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Max von Sydow, Lupita Nyong’o and Gwendoline Christie will join the original stars of the saga, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker in the new film.
