Scratch another name off the list of directors to helm the new Star Wars movie as this time Ben Affleck lets his thoughts be known.
Affleck attended the recent GQ Man of The Year event and spoke with MTV.
“I’d be too busy worrying about how the action figures would look for each character to direct the actual movie,” Affleck joked with MTV. “I’d be like, ‘Oh, we’ll just reshoot the movie with the action figures.’ It’s very exciting that they’re going to make more. There might be purists who are opposed to it, but I think it’s a very cool thing and I’m excited to go see the movie.”
Affleck is also friends with Star Trek director J.J. Abrams, and though Abrams has taken himself off the list as well, Affleck thinks his buddy would to a great job.
“J.J. would kill it, he would crush it, but he would be great at anything,” Affleck told MTV. “There are a lot of good directors out there. Naturally I would be inclined to get somebody who’s great at telling stories. You’re never going to be able to recapture the story that was the initial three, because it’s so legendary and iconic. I don’t know, I’m glad I don’t have that job. It’s a tough decision to make.”
The latest regarding a search for the new director of Star Wars came from producer Frank Marshall who stated that it’s down to a couple candidates.
