Wanna save yourself 40 bucks?

Well, the SYFY channel is showing the sci-fi alien invasion movie, Battle of Los Angeles, on March 12th!

Stay home, make your own popcorn, sit back and relax in your favorite recliner as you watch – Kel Mitchell and Nia Peeples battle aliens?

Huh?

Sorry, this isn’t Battle: Los Angeles which hits theaters on March 11th, starring Aaron Eckhart and Michelle Rodriguez! This is one of those “mockbusters” where they try to capitalize off the name of a similar big budget project, but can’t get into any legal troubles over using the name (you will see a couple – or more – Thor movies hit when Marvel Studios releases their own version).

Battle OF Los Angeles (caps my own) is a straight to DVD sci-fi flick due out March 15th and the SYFY channel is airing this as a special on March 12th at 9pm Eastern/8pm Central.

Here’s the synopsis via DreadCentral:

In February, 1942, US forces engaged an unidentified flying object above Los Angeles. Now, almost 70 years later, the alien invaders have returned.

The director, Mark Atkins, also told Dread Central the following:

“Certain sequences will employ a mix of comic book style action and cinema-verite sequences and to expect more than one variety of extraterrestrial invader.”

Sounds pretty good! I’ll have to check it out.

Now go check out the official trailer!
