It’s being said that we’ll see a Batman reboot in 2016 with an all-new Batman, possibly to debut in the Justice League movie a year prior, and just who plays the new Caped Crusader and Bruce Wayne will be a hot topic amongst fans.
As we see with the new Man of Steel movie, Warner Bros. went with a previous candidate for Superman, Henry Cavill, who was attached to “Superman Flyby” before Bryan Singer came on board with Superman Returns and Brandon Routh.
It’s quite possible that Warner Bros. may do the same with the new Batman reboot.
Enter Jake Gyllenhaal.
Gyllenhaal was actually David Goyer’s (writer on The Dark Knight Trilogy) choice to play Batman; however, Christian Bale was chosen by director Christopher Nolan.
While just who would play the character in a Batman reboot film would be up to the director, we’ve also been told that Jake Gyllenhaal is the studio’s favorite.
So would Jake Gyllenhaal have any interest in playing a super hero?
The Shortlist asked the actor just that, with Gyllenhaal not ruling out the possibility.
“At a certain point you realise there’s always someone more interesting, talented and ready to do a role than you are – and you won’t get every role you go for,” Gyllenhall said while promoting his new thriller End Of Watch. “All I want right now is to hone my skills and become a better actor, not dream about wearing a cape. But you never know.”
