Michael Uslan, the executive producer on every Batman movie since 1989, says a behind-the-scenes book on the Tim Burton film is in the works, and he is asking fans to help make it happen.
Uslan put out the call on his Facebook page, where he has spent the past decade posting rare photos and history from the production.
The book would collect behind-the-scenes photos, art, and archival material from Batman 1989 into what Uslan describes as a “plush coffee table book.”
Talks are in the early stages, and Uslan says the next step is proving to publishers that fans want it.
Uslan wrote:
“Need your help! Am in preliminary discussions regarding assembling behind-the-scenes photos, art, and other archival material of 1989’s ‘Batman’ into a plush coffee table book.
“If you have enjoyed the photos and bits of history I have posted here over the last decade and if you think you would enjoy a book like this, would you each respond to this posting with just one sentence of support, so that I can convince some folks that there is, indeed, a passionate audience for this? Many thanks! Michael”

How To Support The Batman 1989 Book
Supporting the book costs nothing.
Head to Uslan’s Facebook post and reply with one sentence saying you want it.
Uslan says he will use the responses to show publishers there is a real audience for this.
His page already gives a taste of what the book could hold.
Tim Burton and Michael Keaton between takes. Kim Basinger’s Vicki Vale face to face with Batman. Anton Furst’s Gotham City sets and miniatures. The Batmobile. A main unit clapperboard dated January 1989.
There is even a shot of Conrad Veidt in 1928’s The Man Who Laughs, the movie that inspired the Joker’s look.
The Man Who Brought Batman To The Big Screen
Uslan bought the film rights to Batman in 1979 with his late partner Benjamin Melniker.
At the time, Hollywood only saw the character as the campy Adam West TV series. It took ten years of rejections before the movie got made.
Batman opened on June 23, 1989. It grossed over $400 million worldwide and finished as the biggest movie of the year at the domestic box office.
Furst and Peter Young won the Oscar for those Gotham City sets.
Uslan has been an executive producer on every Batman film since, including The Batman Part II, which is now filming for its February 18, 2028 release.
He also teamed with Stan Lee on DC’s Just Imagine comics, which DC celebrated with the Tales From Earth-6 anthology.
The post is live now, and one sentence is all Uslan is asking for.
