[[wysiwyg_imageupload:1002:]]With various retailers having early release AvX parties on Tuesday, April 3rd at 8PM, Marvel is planning ahead and shipping Avengers Vs. X-Men #1 a week early.
Marvel wants to make sure the retailers actually have the product in hand, as Diamond is known – at times – to not deliver the correct books or amount.
“With a record-breaking number of retailers participating in our ‘Avengers Vs. X-Men’ launch parties, we wanted to make sure that everyone had their copies on hand and in time for the special Tuesday release,” Marvel Senior Vice President of Sales David Gabriel told CBR. “We couldn’t be more excited with the overwhelming amount of support from our retail partners for the biggest event we’ve ever done. In turn we’re guaranteeing that stores will be primed and ready as fans come flocking to their stores.”
Likewise, if the order is not correctly filled, retailers would still have the following week (actual release) to receive their full shipments, I would assume.
So does that mean we could be seeing copies and spoilers landing online? Apparently if retailers do sell the issue early, they will be cut off from further Marvel promotions (via Bleeding Cool, who first broke the story).
Avengers Vs. X-Men already has surpassed the 200,000 mark for pre-orders, and comes with a free coupon for the Marvel Comics Infinite Nova Digital comic.
