That Avengers: Doomsday trailer the whole internet watched Monday morning? It’s three months old.
Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld, who was in the room when Marvel screened Doomsday footage for exhibitors in April, says Monday’s release is the same cut: “Confirming that This is the exact trailer we got in April at Cinema Con.”
Straight From The CinemaCon Vault
Liefeld isn’t guessing. He posted his reaction to the CinemaCon footage from the airport back on April 16, and he quote-tweeted that video Monday to make the point.
The CinemaCon trailer was exhibitor-only and never released publicly. Until Monday, when Marvel finally let it out the door timed to the Infinity Vision ticket launch, with premium showings already selling out.
Read that timing for what it is: Marvel spent its archive on the ticket sale. The new material is still in the chamber.
The Math Points To A Second Trailer Saturday
Marvel did not book Hall H on Saturday to replay a trailer everyone has already seen. The panel is now wide open for newer footage, and there’s a paper trail suggesting it already exists.
Go back to the trailer description that leaked out of the Russian Telegram channel. It described a “rough version” of a trailer, and while its biggest beats showed up Monday, a whole set of them did not: the opening on Doom’s Latverian throne, the walk past the wife-and-son painting, Loki in his TVA suit inside Steve’s house, Yelena fighting her own double, Reed Richards demanding Doom answer him, and the closing line, “One day you will forgive me.”
None of that is in the CinemaCon cut. Which means the rough cut that description covered is a different, newer trailer, and its shot list may already be sitting in public.
The poster backs it up. Monday’s one-sheet is built entirely around the wife-and-son shrine, a beat from the leaked description that Monday’s trailer never shows. Marvel is clearly marketing off material we haven’t seen in motion yet.
So the Saturday setup writes itself: the cast on stage, and the trailer the leak already described playing for Hall H first.
