An updated synopsis for Avengers: Doomsday has surfaced ahead of this week’s Comic-Con, and it doubles down on the leaked plot outline.
The new copy expands on the synopsis Disney first put out in its CinemaCon recap, which confirmed heroes from “three distinct universes” on a “deadly collision course.” The updated version, surfacing the day before tickets go on sale, adds that the Multiverse Saga begins its final chapter here and that the film lays the foundation for the MCU’s future.

“Universes collide and the Multiverse Saga begins its final chapter in Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Doomsday. Beloved heroes from three distinct universes will be set on a deadly collision course and ultimately face an existential threat unlike anything they’ve ever encountered. This epic film will lay the foundation for the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.”
‘Three Distinct Universes’ Is The Leak’s Exact Architecture
The “three” comes straight out of the leaked plot outline John Campea vouched for as the real thing, which runs on exactly this structure: Incursions driving the heroes of three universes together before Doctor Doom wins the day.
This isn’t generic multiverse boilerplate. Marvel could have written “across the Multiverse” and revealed nothing. Instead the copy specifies three worlds colliding, which is the leaked outline’s skeleton in the studio’s own words.
It’s the same skeleton every other piece of material keeps tracing. The leaked trailer description sorts its beats into exactly three home teams: the New Avengers in their tower, Thor arriving with the Fantastic Four, and the X-Men inside the Baxter Building.
The Universe Math
Per the leak, the three worlds are the MCU proper, the Fantastic Four’s retro-future universe where Steve Rogers has been living, and the X-Men’s universe.
Notice who’s not one of the three: Raimi’s Spider-Man world. That squares with the leak placing Tobey Maguire’s universe in the film’s opening as an Incursion casualty rather than a home team. It’s the reason the Maguire and Doc Ock rumors can coexist with a “three universes” logline. Heroes from three worlds survive to fight. A fourth is there to fall.
The Fantastic Four Just Started The Clock
The synopsis isn’t the only thing Marvel moved this weekend. The Fantastic Four’s official social accounts dropped a short teaser built around the First Family’s standing tradition: dinner every Sunday, 7 o’clock, on the dot.
Then dinner gets interrupted and the screen goes dark. “How long do we have?” Sue Storm asks. Reed’s answer: “Not long.”
Note the delivery date. Marvel posted a clip about a sacred Sunday dinner on a Sunday, the night before tickets go on sale. “Not long” is the Incursion clock and the marketing clock in the same two words.
It also puts the spotlight right where the leak does: on the Fantastic Four’s universe, the world where Steve Rogers has been living his second life. A family dinner going dark is that thread starting to pull.
What Marvel Is Holding For Hall H
Just as telling is what the synopsis leaves out: no character names, no Robert Downey Jr., not even the word Doom. The threat stays “existential” and anonymous, because the reveals are being saved for the stage.
The ramp is now fully visible. The updated synopsis and the dinner teaser this weekend. Tickets go on sale tomorrow, Monday, July 20, for Infinity Vision screenings, Disney’s new premium large format, with the 165-minute runtime attached. Standard-format tickets haven’t been announced yet. And Hall H lands Saturday, July 25, where the first trailer is expected.
And that closing line about laying “the foundation for the future” of the MCU is doing quiet work too. It’s the post-Secret Wars reset Marvel keeps gesturing at, the one the X-Men reboot is being built on.
