Marvel Drops Avengers: Doomsday Trailer Special Look At D23

Marvel Drops Avengers: Doomsday Trailer Special Look At D23

Marvel Studios dropped a new Avengers: Doomsday Special Look during Friday night’s D23 Showcase, captioned with the tease “He used to be different.”

The 2:09 spot arrives as fans have been expecting a full second trailer, with the Doomsday countdown clock morphing into Doom on Marvel’s YouTube channel earlier this week.

Hugh Jackman also appeared in a surprise video with Ryan Reynolds.

Doom Speaks

The footage delivers the first real dialogue from Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom, closing on the declaration “Hell answers to me. For I am Doom.”

Narration paints Victor’s tragedy, describing the smartest guy in every room who “used to be kind” and caring until everything he loved was taken from him.

Another voice admits knowing Victor was lost “but I did not realize that he was broken,” while Doom faces a repeated demand of “Did you do this?”

Deadline’s D23 takeaway identifies that voice as Pedro Pascal’s Reed Richards, quoting the line as “Answer me, Victor! Why did you do this?”, the same heartbroken demand reported out of the Hall H trailer, and describes this Doom as a more complex, sinister strategist than Josh Brolin’s Thanos.

Doom also lays out his mission, telling his targets “all of you have lived stolen lives” that must now be given back, which reads like the incursion logic driving him across universes.

He caps it with a promise that someone will “beg for hell” long before he grants it, so consider the kind and caring Victor era officially over.

Doomsday Takes Over D23

The Special Look adds to a Doomsday-heavy Friday at the expo, following the first look at Doom’s second suit and the wrecked TVA Experience on the show floor.

Marvel’s caption also pushes fans straight to buy tickets, hours after regular seats went on general sale at Fandango with a world premiere contest attached.
