Avengers: Doomsday Presales Hit $50 Million With 100 Days To Go

UPDATE: Marvel reportedly suffers a massive data breach, which has seen the entire Avengers: Doomsday movie in 4k leak online.

Avengers: Doomsday has crossed $50 million in domestic presales, per Deadline.

The movie opens December 18, which is still 100 days away.

Three weeks ago, the number was $35 million.

$15 Million Added In Three Weeks

Tickets went on sale July 20 with the first trailer, limited to premium formats. Variety reported $16.5 million in the first 24 hours.

Sales for all theaters and showtimes opened at D23 in August. Global Box Office had the total at $35 million on August 19.

Now it is $50 million.

For comparison, Spider-Man: Brand New Day had $150 million in presales the day before its July 31 opening. It went on to a record $360 million weekend, beating Avengers: Endgame‘s $357.1 million from 2019.

Endgame‘s total presales are estimated between $120 million and $140 million, and those tickets were on sale for less than a month.

Doomsday is at $50 million with 100 days still to sell.

Over 70% Of Sales Are Premium Tickets

Deadline reports more than 70% of Doomsday sales are for Infinity Vision showtimes.

Infinity Vision is Disney’s premium certification covering Dolby Cinema, Cinemark XD, and Regal RPX screens.

What Doomsday does not have is IMAX. Warner Bros. locked the format into a three-week exclusive window for Dune: Part Three, which opens the same day.

Dune 3 is selling as well. AMC CEO Adam Aron said its premium on-sale brought about three times the ticketing traffic of the Brand New Day launch, and its standard-screen sales have not started yet.

Two movies selling like this on the same day is why the $400 million opening projections run into a screen capacity problem.

The Marketing Is Setting Records Too

Per Deadline, the July trailer for Doomsday stands as the second-biggest movie trailer launch of all time and the most-viewed trailer in Disney history.

The trailer for Avengers: Endgame Encore did 77 million views in its first 24 hours, over four times bigger than any re-release trailer ever. The extended cut, with its Doomsday connective footage, hits theaters September 25.

Marvel’s five-hour casting livestream, which revealed the Doomsday lineup on the backs of set chairs, pulled 275 million digital views and 3.1 million social mentions.

And Marvel just had its biggest month ever on Disney+, with over 420 million hours viewed in August. Deadline reports the Doomsday-driven lift for Marvel titles tops 200 million hours, the largest bump a theatrical release has ever given the service.

Avengers: Doomsday and Dune: Part Three both open December 18, 2026. Avengers: Endgame Encore hits theaters September 25.
