The Avengers (2012): Spider-Man Now Said To Make Cameo (Rumor)

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:472:]]Ever since news came out that Sony and Disney had come to a mutual agreement in regards to the Amazing Spider-Man movie rights, Cosmic Book News put it forth that Spider-Man would be appearing in The Avengers movie.

Then an actress on The Avengers let it be known that a Spider-Man Winnebago was on set.

Now, an apparent source has confirmed that Sony wants Andrew Garfield to make a cameo in The Avengers.

This will be similar to how Wolverine made a quick cameo in X-Men: First Class and Sony’s going to make sure to promote their new Spider-man movie any way they can. Andrew’s (Garfield) isn’t a widely known actor so they want to get his face on everything, including The Avengers even if it’s for a couple seconds.

As we have previously stated, having Spider-Man appear in The Avengers just makes plain sense, as it benefits both Sony and Disney. Disney now holds the merchandising rights to Amazing Spider-Man, and having Spidey/Andrew Garfield appear in their big budget superhero block buster certainly would create quite the buzz — leading into the premiere of the Amazing Spider-Man on July 3rd, two months after The Avengers.

The Avengers assembles May 4th, 2012 and is directed by Joss Whedon, starring Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Chris Evans as Captain America, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk, Scarlett Johansson as the Black Widow and Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye.
