The Avengers (2012): Josh Whedon Says The Movie Will Be From Captain America’s Perspective

With such a large cast attached to The Avengers, just which of the Assemblers would be chosen for movie goers to relate to?

How about Captain America?!

In the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly, on newsstands now, director Joss Whedon made mention that The Avengers will take place mostly from the perspective of Cap.

“I set out with a very simple problem: There is no reason for these people to be in the same movie. So that’s what my movie has to be about.  So much of the movie takes place from Steve Rogers’ (Chris Evans) perspective, since he’s the guy who just woke up and sees this weird a– world. Everyone else has been living in it.”

I suppose this makes sense as Cap is basically a “newbie,” which equates with much of the audience. Whedon will be able to use Cap to explain to audiences the setting and characters as the movie progresses. Plus, Cap is more of an “everyman” type of character compared to the rest of the cast, something further that viewers can identify with.

The Avengers assembles May 4th, 2012 and is directed by Joss Whedon, starring Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Chris Hemsworth as Thor,
Chris Evans as Captain America, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk, Scarlett Johansson as the Black Widow and Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye.
