Now, we have some major rumors on The Avengers movie!
Earlier, a description from an action figure line for The Avengers states the Red Skull might have a role side by side Loki in the movie. io9 states that a lot of the movie was shot in secret, that’s why we haven’t seen any images of the Red Skull. They offer the following:
-The aliens are called The Redacted and are a new version of The Skrulls. Fox still own Skrulls, so Marvel have changed them enough to not get sued. They’re multicoloured and are shapeshifters.
-Thanos is in the movie. There were rumors some months ago that Loki would do business with Thanos and they’re true. Thanos is tricked by Loki in the movie. Basically, Loki has been collecting Infinity Gems and the Infinity Gauntlet, but tricks Thanos in to thinking that the Infinity Gauntlet is the most powerful. In return, Thanos gives him The Redacted.
-The Leviathan is an alien serpent given to Loki by Thanos as a part of the deal.
-Red Skull is in the movie. Loki meets him on his travels. They split the 6 Infinity Gems between them. Loki takes the Mind, Reality and Power gems and Red Skull takes the Soul, Time and Space gems.
-The Redacted discover that Loki tricked their master, and betray him. Hence Loki seemingly being on The Avengers side in some set photos.
Regarding “The Redacted,” in a previous rumor or description, it was stated that the aliens were not Skrulls, but would be alluded to – so the above fits.
As far as everything else stated above, we know that the Red Skull was transported to another realm/dimension at the end of Captain America: The First Avenger. This is most likely how Loki teams up with him.
I’m actually not sure if Fox does hold the rights to the Skrulls. They do have the rights to Fantastic Four, so that might have been part of the deal.
And this isn’t the first time we’ve heard the Mad Titan Thanos mentioned.
As far as the Infinity Gems and Gauntlet, while it may have been briefly seen in Thor, an awesome looking prop was created. Why would it go to waste? However, I don’t think Thanos would be tricked into thinking the Gauntlet is more powerful than the gems – as the Gauntlet is basically just a glove. I don’t think Thanos would be that easily duped.
The Avengers assembles May 4th, 2012 and is directed by Joss Whedon, starring Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Chris Evans as Captain America, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk, Scarlett Johansson as the Black Widow and Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye.
