The artwork Marvel unveiled in Shanghai has a signature and a story.
Andy Park revealed on X that he created the Avengers: Doomsday illustration that debuted at BilibiliWorld, breaking a nearly three-month silence, his first post since Disney showed him the door in April.
“Avengers: Doomsday — the final full film I had the honor of leading as Director of Visual Development at Marvel Studios,” Park wrote. “This illustration commemorates that journey & reveals the characters & their looks for the first time.”
16 Years, 40 Films, One Goodbye
Park’s April farewell told you everything about what Disney cut loose.
“Marvel Studios Visual Development: 2010–2026. End of an era,” he wrote at the time. “I was there at the start of a team that broke the mold. 16 years, 40+ films, and 15 films led as Director of Visual Development, I couldn’t be prouder of the history we made. My journey continues…”
That’s the man who spent a decade and a half defining what the MCU looks like is gone in the layoffs, five months before the studio’s biggest bet of the decade hits theaters wearing his designs.
And note the phrasing in the new post: “the final full film.” The word “full” is doing quiet work there.

His Art Carries The Campaign He’s Not Part Of
There’s no bitterness in Park’s post. There should probably be some in ours.
Marvel put his illustration on an LED wall in Shanghai as the centerpiece of the Doomsday rollout, the piece that, by Park’s own description, reveals the official character designs for the first time: Doom looming, Cyclops front and center, Steve Rogers in civilian clothes.
Park’s exit wasn’t an isolated trim, either, as Marvel Comics execs were also let go, with Marvel Studios’ Head of TV Brad Winderbaum taking control.
It’s also the same cost-cutting Disney that has questions swirling around Marvel Comics’ publishing future — Rob Liefeld says all the way to Webtoon by 2030 — the same math behind the tech-driven savings Liefeld keeps warning about, all while Disney gears up for a legacy-IP war with Ellison’s Paramount.
The company can cut the artist. It still needs the art. However, Park won’t be around for the X-Men reboot that Feige also just confirmed.
Avengers: Doomsday opens December 18, 2026, with Marvel’s Hall H presentation set for July 25, where the first trailer is expected. Everything else lives at our Doomsday hub.
