At the end of season one to AMC’s hit new show, The Walking Dead, writer/Excutive Producer Frank Darabont canned the entire writing staff.

Now, word comes from Deadline.com that Darabont has hired Glen Mazzara as his “number two” writer/Executive Producer and that Mazzara is in the process of putting together a writing staff consisting of about 5 writers.

Charles Eglee, Darabont’s previous number two, was part of that departure and said to move on to another show.

Initially, Frank Darabont wanted to go with freelancers for the hit show, much like they do in the U.K., but now it seems he has gone back to having the traditional writing team. This might have something to do with the fact the Writers Guild needed to approve the switch. Guess, they didn’t.

Season two of The Walking Dead will also see more episodes with thirteen; season one only had six.

It’s a great show, I highly recommend it!

AMC’s The Walking Dead is based off the Robert Kirkman comic book of the same name. Rick Grimes awakens in a hospital bed to find the world has gone to s—! He seeks out his family encountering the walking dead – and “living dead” alike!
