The first Game of Thrones movie is officially on the calendar.
Warner Bros. has dated Game of Thrones: Aegon’s Conquest for June 1, 2029 in theaters.
Owen Harris, the director behind Black Mirror‘s Emmy-winning “San Junipero” episode, directs from a screenplay by Beau Willimon, the Oscar-nominated writer behind House of Cards and Andor.
No cast has been announced, and there is no word yet on when filming starts.

Aegon The Conqueror Hits The Screen For The First Time
The movie follows Aegon I Targaryen, the founder of the Targaryen dynasty and the first king of the Seven Kingdoms.
Aegon conquered and united Westeros with his three dragons: Balerion, Vhagar, and Meraxes.
As previously reported, the story is set around 300 years before Game of Thrones and follows Aegon’s invasion alongside his sister-wives, Visenya and Rhaenys, with the film envisioned on the scale of Dune.
This will be the first time Aegon is depicted on screen, despite the character looming over both Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon.
Warner Bros. first revealed the Aegon’s Conquest title at CinemaCon in April as part of the studio’s “2027 and beyond” slate. Now it has a summer launch date.
The film expands George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire and joins House of the Dragon and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms on the franchise slate. HBO boss Casey Bloys has said nothing else is in development for Westeros, making the movie the franchise’s next big swing.
Paramount Inherits A Nearly Empty 2029
Aegon’s Conquest is the first movie dated for the first weekend of June 2029.
The only other titled releases locked for that year are Pixar’s Coco 2 on November 21 and Avatar 4 on December 21.
The announcement also comes days before Paramount takes over Warner Bros.
The merger is set to close by early October, and Paramount inherits at least 40 Warner Bros. theatrical releases dated from October 2 through 2029. That is 56% of the 71 movies on the two studios’ combined calendar.
David Ellison has named Game of Thrones his favorite HBO show. Now its first movie is one of the biggest titles he inherits.
