Update: It’s claimed Adam Driver might be playing Sebastian Shaw.
That didn’t take long.
Three days after Adam Driver was rumored as the villain of the MCU X-Men reboot, with the role said to be Magneto, the scooper who named the character is walking it back.
Apocalyptic Horseman — the X account that corroborated MyTimeToShineHello’s Driver casting scoop and pegged the role as Magneto — apologized Thursday, saying the Magneto claim was a mistake on his end and that he’s now hearing Driver is playing Mister Sinister.
Bill Skarsgård And Cooper Hoffman Surface For Xavier And Cyclops
The same post added two new names to the pile.
Bill Skarsgård is said to be one of a handful of actors in the mix for Professor X, with Marvel going young for the role, which lines up with Kevin Feige describing the reboot as youth-oriented.
Skarsgård is 35, so young by Professor X standards (but I don’t believe that rumored casting to be remotely true, TBH).
Cooper Hoffman — the Licorice Pizza and The Long Walk star and son of Philip Seymour Hoffman — is in the mix for Cyclops, though he’s said to not be the only choice (I don’t believe this one, either, no way these guys fit for these roles). More names are teased to come.

Two Different Actors Now Tied To Mister Sinister
Here’s the thing: Wagner Moura was the actor previously tied to Mister Sinister, which means the rumor mill has now attached two different actors to the same villain inside of two weeks, on top of Dwayne Johnson floated for Apocalypse.
File all of it under rumor until Marvel says otherwise.

The X-Men Reboot Lineup, Per The Scooper
A day earlier, the account listed the characters he says he can verify are in the film: Cyclops, Jean Grey, Emma Frost, Rogue, Storm, Professor X, and Magneto, meaning Magneto is still in the movie, just no longer with Adam Driver attached.
Beast and Angel have also been heard but remain unconfirmed, per the account, who says to take those two with a grain of salt.
He also clarified this isn’t the full roster, as Marvel is keeping some things under wraps.
Every name floated for those roles so far is in our running X-Men reboot casting tracker.

He Also Claims Adria Arjona Is Maxima — We Hear Differently
Worth noting: this is the same account that told a fan this week that Adria Arjona is playing Maxima in James Gunn’s Man of Tomorrow — after our Hollywood insiders told us Arjona is playing Wonder Woman in the current script.
As we reported, Gunn originally wrote the role as a placeholder that could have gone either Maxima or Wonder Woman, which is exactly where the Maxima confusion comes from, as it’s the early version of the intel.
And given the account just had to walk back who Adam Driver is playing, the Maxima claim deserves the same grain of salt he’s asking for on Beast and Angel.
If Gunn is now allowed to use Batman, you can be he’s allowed to use Wonder Woman.
And my accounts and articles get flagged for real leaks.
Comic-Con Is Nine Days Away
Marvel takes Hall H on July 25, and the studio is already loading up for the panel.
If any of these castings are real and announceable, that’s the stage where it happens, and where we find out which version of the Adam Driver rumor was right, if either.
