Say what you want about the Fantastic Four trailer, but there is no denying that 1960s retro futuristic vibe is groovy, baby. It so 1960s that it even takes inspiration from The Fab Four â The Beatles.
The film is set in an alternative earth in a different universe and takes place in NYC in the â60s where a space race is happening.
The trailer showcases the Fantastic Fourâs home in the Baxter Building, where they have dinner every Sunday at 7 p.m. If you watch closely, youâll notice the cake on the table being raised, suggesting it may have been made by an automated deviceâpossibly linked to the bubble machine on the far right. As soon as the FF arrive home, the cake is ready. Think The Jetsons or even Star Trekâs replicators.
The final scene reveals the Fantastic Four in a homage to The Beatlesâ appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show in 1965. You can clearly see how the arrows on the set and other details match up. Itâs possible the Fantastic Four are appearing on The Ed Sullivan Show in their own universe. Ultimately, the sceneâand the entire trailerâreinforces that the Fantastic Four are as popular in their world as The Beatles were in ours. In the comics, The Beatles even attended Sue Storm and Reed Richardsâ wedding. Pretty cool. Someone did their homework.

Regarding the trailer, I review it here where I offer I do love the â60s vibe and the music score, but I really donât like The Thingâs voice and I am not sold on the rest of the cast. What did you think of the trailer? Let me know in the comments below.
