Scooby-Doo, Netflix has released the first look at the title character in Scooby-Doo: Origins, and it’s probably not what longtime fans expected.
Instead of a full-grown Great Dane solving mysteries with Mystery Inc., Netflix’s version starts as a puppy.
The streamer shared a teaser video revealing a young Scooby-Doo before he becomes the famous crime-solving canine fans know from the cartoons.
“SCOOBY IS FINALLY REAL!!! Meet our goodest boy in Scooby-Doo: Origins, coming to Netflix in 2027,” Netflix posted alongside the reveal.
The streamer also teased fans with a simple message: “good boy!“
Scooby-Doo Starts As A Lost Puppy
According to Netflix’s Tudum, Scooby-Doo: Origins marks the first time Scooby-Doo will be portrayed as a real dog in a live-action project.
The teaser follows the puppy wandering through the woods before spotting Shaggy Rogers. Viewers then get their first close-up look at the young Great Dane wearing the character’s familiar teal collar.
The reveal also explains why this version looks different from the Scooby-Doo fans are used to seeing. The story begins before Mystery Inc. forms, with Scooby still a lonely lost puppy.
Netflix describes him as a dog who may have witnessed a supernatural murder, setting off the mystery that brings the gang together for the first time.
