Slight spoilers perhaps, as the X-Men: Days of Future Past footage that has been released revealed Wolverine traveling back through time. Seems Professor X and Magneto team up (as seen in The Wolverine post-credit scene) to send Wolverine back in time to most likely change whatever event has them worried in the future. I believe it’s Kitty Pryde that sends Logan back.
The future part of the movie takes place about ten years from The Last Stand, I believe, with the past storyline ten or so years after X-Men: First Class.
We know that Bolivar Trask, played by Peter Dinklage, creates the Sentinel program in 1973, with more advanced versions seen in 2020.
For those a fan of the comics, Singer also said this isn’t exactly following that.
The movie features a plethora of new mutants including fan-favorite Bishop, played by Omar Sy, Booboo Stewart as Warpath, and Fan Bingbing as Blink.
Josh Helman will also play a younger William Styker (Brian Cox played the character in X2).
It’s also recently come out that Singer has brought on board X-Men writer Chris Claremont as a consultant.
